Terrifying thought...to open yourself enough to allow someone there, to be allowed there in another...to trust them, not to not hurt you, but to not deliberately cause pain. Hurt is inevitable. We all fuck up and say something, do something, don't do something, don't say something. But it's the intent of the heart, of the mind, that matters most, in the long run.
Hearing what is said and not just what we think we hear, seeing what is done and not what we see as overlooked, these are things we do best to keep in mind.

When you know someone well, and when you are known in return, it becomes easier to learn these lessons of relaxing down into them, and they into you. Trust is a choice and it's generally best, imo, to start out with small steps. Let each step build your confidence. At the end of the day, it's important to come away with more good having been given and learned for both sides than not. That is always my goal.
I never want to leave a place without good thoughts and kindness being what is remembered of me. Even when the leaving wasn't mine.

Yes. A terrifying thought...all wrapped up in a beautiful, liberating hope. A true experience of growth.
